The Studio

Studio

SARAB is a multi-disciplinary experimental architecture and design studio based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

An experimental yet critical practice  challenging norms to create distinctive experiences.

The office approaches architecture, master planning and design with an experimental yet critical intent — challenging the norms and pushing the boundaries of creating distinctive experiences through the built environment.

Our work strives to enhance our understanding of the ability of the built environment to reflect a distant image that was once just a vision — to create tangibility of the non-existent through innovation, creativity and social impact.

Our goal is to deliver a unique identity for a space or a product, contributing to a change in the way we approach design.

Sara Abalkhail

Sara Abalkhail

Founder

Sara Abalkhail is an Architect with a vision for redefining spatial experiences. Her design philosophy is rooted in deconstruction, innovation and art. Drawing inspiration from systems, movement and perception, she thrives on exploring how spaces can adapt, interact and evolve — always challenging conventional boundaries.

Beyond architecture, she finds inspiration in art, culture and everyday interactions, believing that the best designs come from a deep connection to people and their experiences.

Sara received her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee with an Urban Planning minor, and her Master of Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture, Los Angeles. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Saudi Council of Engineers, and a Visionary Architect. Her work focuses on the relationship between art and architecture through innovation and minimalism.

Her previous experience includes architectural consultancies in Los Angeles, Kuwait and Riyadh, with projects in California, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. Before starting Sara Abalkhail Architects, she held a management position at Qiddiya Investment Company — one of the leading Vision 2030 projects — where she managed several projects with international consultants across sports, motorsports, hospitality and entertainment.

Sara believes that the relationship between the client and the Architect is the key to the success of any design.

Fahad Abumelha

Fahad Abumelha

Architect

Fahad is an architect with extensive experience across design, real estate and project management. His philosophy approaches design by noticing what's missing — finding the gaps that make life easier, more functional and a unique experience.

He is always inspired by small details: slowing down, looking closely and finding meaning in the world around us.

He believes that architecture is not simply about creating forms; it is about solving complex problems through creativity, technology and purpose. His past experience was shaped at the Royal Commission for AlUla. At SARAB he brings curiosity to every concept, precision to every process, and a commitment to creating architecture that is both original and purposeful.
